Description

This is Julia Chang, my favorite Tekken character of all time. My first Tekken game is Tekken 2 at the arcade, and I played Michelle for the first time. I randomly press buttons to fight plenty of characters, but I haven't got to Kazuya yet. That game was so fun to play and I want to get my hands on it as a console game. So now you know why I like Michelle Chang so much in the Tekken series; however, she hasn't appeared in any future Tekken games until Tekken Tag Tournament 2, which is a non-canon fighting game. Since there are no wherabouts of Michelle Chang, that's when her adopted daughter Julia came into place. And I gotta say, Julia is so comfortable to play with, even though she's a cute character in both Tekken 3 and Tekken Tag Tournament 1.

If you don't know who Julia is, I'll tell you about her and why she is my favorite Tekken character. As a baby, Julia was deserted in the ruins ruled by Native Americans, where Michelle Chang rescues her. Since Julia was abandoned out of nowhere, Michelle decided to adopt her as her only daughter. As the years go by, Michelle raised and trained Julia just to protect her homeland. When Julia was 18, she heard stories from other people that famous martial artists worldwide have been missing; moreover, Michelle left her homeland just to question Heihachi Mishima about why he tries to steal her pendant in the second tournament (The King of Iron Fist Tournament 2). Then Michelle studies the origins of the mysterious monster Ogre, but what happens after that? Here's where the questions begin to pick up. Michelle has been missing until Julia enters the tournament just to seek her; however, she ran into Heihachi and questions him about her mother's disappearance. Heihachi was trying to awake Ogre and gather so much power to himself. Why? I don't know; he's just that evil. Heihachi tries to trick his grandson Jin Kazama just to accomplish his goals of becoming an indestructible martial artist. Or it could be something else. Anyway, Julia found out that Ogre was awakened thanks to Heihachi's behavior of tricking a few martial artists to do his bidding. She defeated Ogre along with his true form and found her mother at last. They both went home to their homeland, and Julia can finally continue what she does: training, studying archaeology, and spending time with her mother.

Throughout the Tekken series, Michelle Chang has gone missing and there isn't any clue of where she could be. (It happened from Tekken 4 to Tekken 7.) Is Michelle still try to question the people about the tournament or is it something else I didn't know about. Wherever she is, I hope she's still alive. I want to know where that girl is.

So now I'm back with Julia. Yes, Julia Chang is my main Tekken character of all time: her moves are easy to perform, her character is the staple to the entire franchise, her story is very unique, and she's still the same Julia from Tekken 3. That is until Tekken 4 through 6 where she becomes a mature woman with a set of new moves. She still plays comfortable in those games, and I actually enjoyed it, especially when I fought so many CPUs into Ranking Matches in Tekken 5. When Tekken Tag Tournament 2 came out, her moveset changed into a cocky masked wrestler whose nickname is JayCee. The costume belongs to a female friend who ended up injured in the hospital, and Julia has to take her place to fight in the tournament. Julia still has some moves on her own, and now she has even more as an energetic wrestler. Yep, it's still easy to pull off as well, except for one thing that I forgot to mention. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 has DLC characters, and one of them is someone that I'm familiar with. You guessed it: Michelle Chang is available as a playable DLC character. When I first looked at her, she's even prettier than before. She has the Tekken 6 style of Julia Chang and I played with Michelle more than JayCee because of that. I even pair Michelle with Miharu Hirano to play Ranking Matches. But that's just how I was accustomed of Michelle's style in TTT2. JayCee and Michelle are still the pretty girls I like back in the classic days, and they both become staples to the entire Tekken franchise.

So that's my story of how much I love Julia Chang in Tekken and why I played around with her so much. Michelle is just an added feature to my story, so it looks like I was talking about both of them at the same time; but, I digress. They are both fun to play, their moves are simple to memorize, they have a good story, and they have pretty-good looks (similar to their classic counterparts). I love enjoying them as Tekken characters, and if you like the other characters from the Tekken series, that's fine. I have no problem accepting different opinions from you or anyone else; it is what it is. If you like playing with Julia or Michelle throughout the Tekken series, leave some comments below and tell me about your experiences with these two. Also, if there's something I missed in my description, let me know and I'll respond whenever I can.

I want to thank AsukaMinaj for posting models of TTT1 Julia on DeviantArt, but I can't find the one I was looking for. I wanted to show him the cartoon version of Julia Chang, which is this one above my description. To me, it's looks really good and I'm glad I did it. :)
